Workforce Analysis

Each year registered health professionals (including registered oral health practitioners) are asked to complete a workforce analysis questionnaire. The data is collected by the New Zealand Health Information Service, a group within the Minsitry of Health, who is responsible for the collection and dissemination of health related information. The information collected is stored securely by the Ministry of Health and used, in aggregated non-identifiable form, to:
  • respond to queries about workforce composition,
  • monitor workforce trends, and
  • plan workforce development.
The following reports contain data on active oral health practitioners in New Zealand. The statistics reported are based on the Dental Council of New Zealand annual workforce survey and the Dental Register. An active oral health practitioner is defined as a person who is on the Dental Register and holds an annual practising certificate (APC) in New Zealand.
