Applying for Registration as a Dental Therapist
For holders of prescribed qualifications
New Zealand qualified applicants
If you hold a prescribed qualification that has been completed
in New Zealand please complete form REG001 and return this form to the
Dental Council together with the necessary documentation and fees. In addition, you are required to
provide three professional references (Form R001).
Holders of overseas prescribed qualifications
If you hold a prescribed qualification that has been completed outside of New
Zealand you need to firstly apply for eligibility to register. To do so you need to complete Form
ELIG005 and send this application with the required fees and
documentation to the Dental Council. In addition, you are required to provide three professional references
(Form R001). Overseas-trained practitioners are also required to read the New Zealand Conditions of Practice Resource Book.
The Dental Council will consider your application on an individual basis. If the Council is satisfied that you are eligible to apply
for registration you will be issued with an eligibility letter, stating that you are eligible to apply for registration. To apply for
registration you are required to complete Form REG005, which will be sent to you with your letter.
The correct fees must accompany your ELIG005 and REG005 applications. Please refer to the
fees schedule for current fees.
