Registration under TTMR
The Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition (TTMR) Act 1997 recognises Australian and New Zealand registration standards as
equivalent and enhances the freedom of registered professionals to work in either country.
Under the TTMR Act if you are registered as an oral health practitioner in a participating jurisdiction in Australia, you
are entitled to be registered in the same occupation in New Zealand.
Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition therefore provides an alternative avenue for obtaining registration in New
Zealand. Applicants have the choice of applying for registration under the TTMRA or under the Health Practitioners
Competence Assurance Act 2003.
Application Process under TTMRA
To apply for registration under TTMR you need to complete an application
(REG008) and send this form with the required fees
and documentation to the Dental Council. Overseas-trained practitioners are also required to read the
New Zealand Conditions of Practice Resource Book. See the fees schedule for
current fees.
The Dental Council will consider your application on an individual basis.
